 | PAT BENATAR: "Coxon´s Army" Lp, (1.975) signed. Este es el disco "secreto" de PAT BENATAR. El Santo Grial. Incluso muchos fans desconocen la existencia de esta joya. Resulta que PAT grabó un Lp antes de comenzar su exitosa carrera en solitario. El artefacto, llamado "COXON ´S ARMY" por el lider del grupo, Phil Coxon, está rodeado de misterio, lo que le hace aún más irresistible. He podido recopilar algunos datos, sobre todo a través de las (rarísimas) ocasiones en las que sale a subasta por Internet. Parece un dato cierto que no debe haber más de 500 copias en todo el mundo. Existen rumores de que PAT compró los derechos cuando firmó el primer contrato con Chrysalis, ya que no tiene ninguna intención de que se re-edite. También he leído que PAT compró todas las copias que pudo para que no cayeran en las manos del público (y es que este Lp sólo se vendía en el area de Richmond, Virginia o en sus actuaciones). Ella incluso me reconoció, mientras me lo firmaba, que guarda varias unidades en su poder. ¿Venderlo? Antes me desharía de un brazo. | |||
This is no other than PAT BENATAR ´s "secret" album. The Holy Grail. Even many fans ignore the existence of this jewel. PAT happened to record an album before she signed as a successful solo artist. The release is called "COXON ´S ARMY", after the leader of the band, a guy called Phil Coxon, and it´s surrounded by mystery, which makes it even more special. I ´ve gathered some information from the (very rare) times this baby comes out for auction at Ebay. It does seem to be a fact that the total number of copies must be around 500 worldwide. There is a rumour that PAT bought all the rights when she got the money from her Chrysalis contract with the intention of never having it re-released. I have also read that she tried to buy as many copies as she could to later destroy them (the album was only sold at the Coxon ´s Army shows, and local stores around the Richmond, Virginia area). PAT told me personally, as she was signing it, that she keeps some units herself at home. I´d get rid of an arm before selling it. Estimated price (as of 2006): $ 750 | ||||

WHITE ZOMBIE: "Gods on Voodoo Moon" signed by Sean Yseult Sí, si, Aquí está. Ni están viendo visiones ni van ustedes borrachos (o a lo mejor sí). Se trata del primerísimo disco de White Zombie, "Gods on Voodoo Moon". Un single de vinilo del que sólo hay 300 copias en el planeta, pero Rob Zombie conserva unas 200. Ahora resten, de esas 100, (si es que saben restar) las que están en manos de coleccionistas que nunca se desprenderán de ellas (como yo), y las posibilidades de encontrar una de las escasísimas piezas son mínimas. Esta copia incluye los "inserts" (las letras y una pegatina). Aquí el menda vio con estos ojitos cómo, en 2.003, una copia salió a subasta con un precio de salida de $ 999...y se vendió. ¡Y les recuerdo que es tan sólo un single que no llega a los 10 minutos de duración! ¿Aun no han perdido el sentido? Pues sepan que mi copia encima está firmada por la bajista SEAN YSEULT. Pa´ cagalse. Yes, this is it. The very first White Zombie release, "Gods on Voodoo Moon". Only 300 copies were sold, but Rob Zombie kept around 200 of them, so there are only 100 copies available on this planet. Out of those 100 substract the copies in the hands of collerctors who, like me, won ´t ever get rid of them, so that leaves us with an extra limited number of potential copies going around! This copy includes all the inserts (a sheet with the lyrics and a sticker). In 2.003 I saw a copy myself on Ebay with a starting price of $999...and it sold! And don´t forget it is a 7-inch single I am talking about! Its playing time is less than 10 minutes!! And the icing on the cake is that my copy was personally signed by bassist SEAN YSEULT. | ||||||||

PAT BENATAR: "Last Saturday / Day gig" single. Signed by Pat. Un poco más arriba hablábamos del rarísimo "Coxon´s Army" de PAT BENATAR. Pues bien, este single, grabado un poco más tarde, y que tiene dos temas inéditos es aun más raro. De hecho, en todos estos años me he cruzado con cuatro copias del "Coxon´s Army", pero de éstos sólo he visto uno (y lo trinqué, claro). No trae portada. Me lo firmó Pat en Chicago el 25 de Junio del 2.006. A while ago I wrote about the "Coxon´s Army" Lp. Well, this single is waaaay rarer. I have seen 4 "Coxon´s Army" albums for sale through the years, but only once I saw a copy of this single available (and bought it, of course). It´s a single, recorded soon after the "Coxon´s Army" Lp, that includes two unreleased tracks. It features no cover. Signed by Pat on June 25th, 2006. | ||||

KISS: "The Kiss Collection" Brazilian boxset. Signed by Gene & Paul Esta caja sólo salió a la venta en Brasil, en 1.983. Contiene 6 lps, elegidos de forma aleatoria (o por lo menos eso parece): "Dressed to kill", "Destroyer", "Rock and roll over", "Unmasked", "Killers" y "Creatures of the night". Sin duda, una de las piezas más raras de la colección de KISS. La compré 20 años más tarde y se encontraba un poco hecha polvo, pero es lo que había... This box-set, released in 1.983, was available for sale only in Brazil: It contains 6 albums that pretty much look like they were chosen randomly: "Dressed to kill", "Destroyer", "Rock and roll over", "Unmasked", "Killers" and "Creatures of the night". One of the rarest, most sought-after pieces in the KISS catalogue. Unfortunately the copy I found in Sao Paulo 20 years later is far from mint. | ||||

KISS: "The Elder" Turkish edition. Signed by Gene & Paul Después de décadas coleccionando material de KISS uno ha acumulado unos cuantos libros, guías, biografías y catálogos. Pues bien, este artefacto sólo es mencionado en "The KISS album focus" de Julian Gill (quien, ya en 2.003, lo valoraba en $ 400) y en "Warman´s Kiss collectibles field guide" (2.005). Se trata de una edición del "The Elder" (1.981) que sólo se vendió en Turquía, bajo la compañía Dallas, y parece ser que en una edición de 500 copias. El disco más extraño de KISS en su edición más rara. After decades collecting KISS stuff I have got myself quite a few books, catalogues, and pricelists. This one is so rare, it is missing in all of them, except Jullian Gill´s "The KISS album focus" (who, in 2.003 wrote that its value was $ 400), and on " Warman´s Kiss collectibles field guide". It´s the Turkish version of "The Elder" (1.981), released under a domestic label called Dallas. It seems this edition was limited to 500 copies only. The rarest edition of this great album. | ||||

GARBAGE: Rare singles, signed by Butch Vig & Duke Erikson Los 6 primeros singles de Garbage son la repera. Casi merecería la pena tenerlos aunque fueran de un grupo de tonti-pop español, (que ya es decir) sólo por disfrutar de lo cuidado de su diseño. En vinilo, con temas inéditos, estéticamente innovadores y en ediciones limitadas. "VOW" tiene la portada en metal con relieve, "SUBHUMAN" tiene la portada en goma con relieve; La portada de "ONLY HAPPY WHEN IT RAINS" tiene un holograma y la cara b es de doble surco. La copia de "MILK" tienen en su portada 16 fotogramas de video que crean la sensación de movimiento cuando se mueve el disco. El de "QUEER" viene en una funda de plástico duro, y el de "STUPID GIRL" es de tela. Firmados por Butch y Duke. Por último, la caja que contiene el primer disco, "GARBAGE", pero dividido en 7 singles, con dos canciones cada uno. El libreto viene en forma de una especie de postales por separado. Firmado por todo el grupo. Eso si, Butch lo firmó cuatro años más tarde que el resto del grupo (persistente que es uno...) Para saber más de ellos, hágase con la revista inglesa "Record collector" (número 209) The first 6 singles by Garbage would be worth owning even if they featured some stupid boy. A treasure. On vinyl, with unreleased tracks, esthetically innovative and in limited editions. "VOW" features an embossed metal cover, "SUBHUMAN" has an embossed rubber cover. The cover of "ONLY HAPPY WHEN IT RAINS" has an hologram and a double-grooved b-side: Depending on where the needle falls, one song or another is played. The copies of "MILK" contain 16 frames of a video on its cover which create the sensation of motion when you sway the record. "QUEER" had a hard plastic cover, and "STUPID GIRL" is made of fabric. Signed by Butch & Duke. And finally, that pink box contains the first album, "GARBAGE" split in seven 7-inches, with 2 songs each. The booklet pages come in spare postcards. The band signed it to me personally even though Butch signed it four years later... | ||

AC/DC: Rare promo hat signed by Angus Young Gracias a la generosidad de mi vecino (y sin embargo amigo), y a su profundo desapego por los bienes materiales pude conseguir esta pieza de museo a un precio tan irrisorio que me da vergüenza confesarlo. Se trata de una gorra promocional de AC/DC, que ya tiene cierta antigüedad, con una caricatura del cantante Brian Johnson y el logotipo del grupo bordados. El objeto de por sí ya tiene un altísimo interés para el coleccionista, pero es que encima está firmada por ANGUS (momento que recoge la foto) | ||||||||

Thanks to the generosity of my neighbour (and however close friend), and his despising towards the sense of personal property, I got myself this piece of memorabilia almost without any effort on my part. The price was so low I won´t mention it in order to keep this guy´s name clean. It´s a rare promo AC/DC hat that he got many years ago. It features the band logo and a caricature of singer Brian Johnson embroidered onto it. Very cool and highly collectible item itself, the icing of the cake is the signature of ANGUS the man himself. JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO (CONCRETE BLONDE): "Sketckbook" cd signed Cuando tuve el inmenso y supraterrenal placer de entrevistar a JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO en marzo `05 ella me dijo que este cd, del que sólo existen 1000 copias, se vendía ya por internet a 300 $. Me pareció exagerado, ya que sólo habían pasado dos años desde que ella los pusiera a la venta en la web oficial de CONCRETE BLONDE, por unos cochinos $15. Pero mira tú por dónde, al poco tiempo pude ser testigo en Ebay de cómo una copia de este cd se vendía por 185 $...sin firmar. Mi copia está autografiada por JOHNETTE, así que digo yo que los $ 200 los alcanza sin problemas. Y si no los alcanza hoy, tranqui, que ya los alcanzará en el futuro. Sinceramente (y hablo en serio) yo soy el primer sorprendido con la cotización de este cd, que no deja de ser música experimental muy por debajo del resto de su obra. When I had the supreme, other-worldly pleasure to interview JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO in March ´05 she told me this cd was being sold for $300 on the net. I thought she was exaggerating. After all, it had been only two years since it came out for sale through CONCRETE BLONDE´s official website for just $15. But she proved me wrong when, just weeks after that I saw one being sold on Ebay for $185. And it was an unsigned copy! This one does have her autograph, so I guess it´s worth at least $200. KISS: "Double Platinum" Japanese 12-cd box Bueno, pues aquí estoy comprando (otra vez) discos que ya tengo repetidos hasta 7 veces... pero en una edición muy bonita. Un caprichito vamos, que nunca se ha acercado al aparato reproductor (con perdón) de cd´s. Todos los discos vienen con su obis (2 cada uno), sus "inserts" originales reducidos a escala y con las portadas en cartón, como los antiguos Lp´s de vinilo. La caja, brillante, tiene las letras y el contorno de la portada del "Destroyer" en relieve. Para más detalles...a leer en inglés un poco más abajo. | ||||||||

So here I am again buying albums that I already have (some of them up to seven times) Well, this limited edition Japanese box is so cute I though it was worth getting one. Obviously these cd´s were never played on any cd tray. The box features embossed KISS logo and "Destroyer" silhouette on two sides.
