SHIRLEY MANSON llegó a la fama más tarde que muchas de las Diosas aquí descritas...y enseguida ocupó el trono como la más alta Sacerdotisa en en mundo del Rock. Puritita dinamita. Se debería besar el suelo que ella pisa. La clase de mujer que hace que me ponga de rodillas y dé gracias a Dios por haberme hecho un hombre heterosexual.
Su historia es la de una Cenicienta escocesa que pasa de ser un elemento más que secundario en un grupo de seis miembros, GOODBYE MR. MACKENZIE (en el que entró por estar enamorada del cantante, un tío clavadito a Marilyn Manson) para después formar parte de un grupo derivado de los propios GMM (esta vez como cantante) llamado ANGELFISH. Con ellos graba un único y muy interesante Cd. Y después llega al mega-éxito mundial con GARBAGE quienes la ficharon, según la leyenda, tras verla una sóla vez en un video ("Suffocate me"). Y así el mundo descubre a este irresistible sex symbol, a esta belleza desproporcionada, a la Gallinita Suprema. ¿Sabían ustedes que el padre de Shirley estaba en el equipo de científicos que creo a la oveja "Dolly"? ¡Que clone a su hija! Debería ser la mascota oficial del Dia del Orgullo Heterosexual.

SHIRLEY MANSON achieved fame and glory way after many of the other Goddesses featured on this site...but she soon took the throne of the Highest Priestess in the Rock & Roll world. Pure dynamite, everybody should kiss the ground she walks on. The kind of girl that makes me kneel and thank God for making me an straight man.
Her history is one of a Scotish Cinderella who goes from being a secundary member in a six-piece band, GOODBYE MR. MACKENZIE (a band she joined because she was in love with the singer, a guy who looks a lot like Marilyn Manson), to be later the singer of a "spin-off" band called ANGELFISH. They recorded only one (but very interesting) cd, to then get much-deserved worldwide mega stardom with GARBAGE, who hired her after watching her on TV, one single time, on the "Suffocate me" video. That´s how the world discovers this irresistible sex-symbol, this far-out beauty, who should be the mascot of the Hetero Pride Parade. Did you know that Shirley´s father was one of the scientists who created "Dolly" the sheep? Clone your daughter first!!!

Aunque no lo ponga, SHIRLEY acabó el concierto cantando "#1 Crush" acompañaba sólamente del bajista. Parte del equipo estaba desconectado cuando salió a cantar un cuarto bis. This is the setlist sheet used for the June 12th `02 gig in Madrid. It includes the Ramones song "I just wanna have something to do" (which comes off the tribute "we ´re a happy family", unreleased at that time). Even though it does not say so, SHIRLEY ended the show with "#1 Crush", just herself and the bass player. El 4 de Junio de `99 fui a las oficinas de American Airlines del aeropuerto de Madrid para comprar un billete. La oficina estaba cerrada, y cuando me volvía al coche cabreado... ¡me encontré con Butch Vig! Y unos pasos atrás el resto del grupo. Una televisión se tiró una semana anunciando que Garbage tocarían el día 5 en directo en uno de sus programas. Pero al final ni fue en directo (fue playback) ni fue ese día (típico de Tele 5 y sus programadores estafadores...). Antes de que llegaran al control de pasaportes corrí hacia SHIRLEY. Fue la primera vez que nos conocimos. Estuvo MUY simpática, hablamos de su glorioso concierto en Madrid meses atrás, e incluso fue ella la que se preocupó de conseguir un rotulador gordo entre sus acompañantes. Lo único que tenía a mano era el periódico...y fue lo que me firmó. Al despedirse me dijo: "nos encontraremos en el futuro otra vez". Yo contesté "ya lo creo". Y así fue. On June 4th `99 I went to the American Airlines offices at the Madrid airport to buy some airline tickets. The office was closed, and as I was returning to my car quite pissed... I stumbled across Butch Vig! And some steps behind the rest of the band. A tv station had spent the entire week saying that Garbage would play "live" on June the 5th on one of its programs. Well, it was not on the 5th, and it was not even "live", but lip-synch. Before they reached the passport control I ran to SHIRLEY. It was the first time we met. She was very, I mean VERY, nice; We talked about their glorious concert she gave some months behind, and it was even her who worried about getting a thick marker among her people. The only thing I had with me was the newspaper...and that´s what she signed. When we said goodbye she told me: "we will meet again". And I replied "You bet". And we did. He sido bendecido por los dioses y así he podido estar con SHIRLEY MANSON en dos ocasiones. La primera fue un encuentro casual en un aeropuerto y la segunda en una rueda de prensa promocionando el disco "Beautiful Garbage" (Madrid, 10 Junio `02) junto a Steve y Duke...y un puñado de periodistas ignorantes. En ambas ocasiones ha demostrado ser muy simpática, accesible, tener un gran sentido del humor, y ser muy cariñosa con los fans (y no sólo de boquilla, como otros...) incluso con aquellos cutres que le ofrecían una simple hoja en blanco para firmar. Una diosa misericordiosa llena de amor para con sus humildes adoradores. Tras la rueda de prensa le pregunté si pensaba seguir en el mundo de la música después de los 50, como Blondie, y desgraciadamente dijo que esperaba que no y se río. Por cierto Duke y Steve también fueron muy enrollados. Por desgracia, cuando vino aquí para la gira de "Bleed like me" no se mezcló con los simples mortales. I´ve been lucky enough to be with SHIRLEY MANSON twice. The first time was a lucky and unexpected encounter in an airport and the other one after a press conference for the "Beautiful Garbage" cd (Madrid, June 10th `02) with Steve & Duke and a bunch of ignorant journalists. In both meetings she proved to be very nice, down-to-Earth, with a great sense of humor and very grateful with the fans (showing this with facts) even to those cheap ones who would aproach her with a simple blank page for autographs. A Goddess full of love to her humble devotees. After the press conference I asked her if she planned to be in the music business after she turned 50, like Blondie, and unfortunately she said she hoped not and laughed. By the way, both Duke and Steve were also very cool to everyone. Unfortunately, in the Spanish leg of the "Bleed like me" tour she didn´t deal with us, simple mortals.
